“I’m an eternal optimist, but I truly believe we can shift massively on this record. That’s the thing we all know, that we feel in our bellies as we’re rehearsing — we’re on a big move here. We’re definitely on a journey. And it’s exciting.”

It’s difficult for me to comprehend how generous Radiohead is. I think generous is the right word. How many times could they have stopped, plateau’d? There are, after all, still people who love Pablo Honey. (Not many … but they’re there.) Bends is its own thing. OK Computer is a totally new world. Kid A and Amnesiac are a whole goddam universe. I think Hail to the Thief is their weakest, but there are sounds in there I will never forget - and I think in In Rainbows they reach a level of technical perfection that I didn’t think was even possible after everything they’d already done.

And now a “massive shift”? What is this, like 2001: A Space Oddyssey? Geez, guys. You’re too much. We’ve gone to Jupiter and you’re still jumping. Well done. I can’t wait.

Also, FUCK YOU Fiery Furnaces (even though Rehearsing My Choir is pretty amazing, whatever)
